Orlando ... ASIG®, an industry leader in aviation services, announced today that it has signed an unprecedented multi-year agreement with Rentech and eight airlines at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to supply up to 1.5 million gallons per year of renewable synthetic diesel fuel (RenDiesel®) for ground service equipment beginning in late 2012, when the plant that will produce the fuel is scheduled to go into service.

The initial purchasers under the agreement with ASIG are Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, UPS Airlines and US Airways. Additional airline purchasers of RenDiesel® can be added under the agreement with ASIG. ASIG currently provides aircraft refueling and ground equipment fueling services to many of the carriers operating at LAX. ASIG has also operated the airport's fuel storage facilities since 1986 on behalf of the world's largest fuel consortium, LAXFuel, comprised of 57 major Domestic and International air carriers, supplying over 1.6 billion gallons of jet fuel annually.

The renewable RenDiesel® fuel will be produced from urban woody green waste, such as yard clippings, at Rentech's proposed Rialto Renewable Energy Center under development in Rialto, CA. RenDiesel® is an ultra-clean synthetic fuel that will have a carbon footprint of near zero, exceeding all applicable fuels standards. It is biodegradable and is virtually free of particulates, sulfur and aromatics. RenDiesel® is compatible with existing engines and pipelines.
